SSL Cares Coalition
The South Salt Lake Cares Coalition is our aligned effort to create community-wide change where every one from every sector can play a role.
What we do
The Coalition consists of any community members, leaders, and businesses who want to help create better lives for everyone in South Salt Lake. In order to best serve those who live, learn, work, play, and pray in South Salt Lake, we must partner with those who hire, teach, serve, preach, parent, broadcast, govern, influence, and grow up here.
Structure
The Coalition has two main bodies which meet regularly to align partnerships, assess community strengths and needs, build capacity, plan programming, advise activities, and drive meaningful action to give everyone the opportunity to succeed.
-
The Key Leader Council is made up of community leaders who are influencers and decision-makers.
They meet quarterly to provide support and resources to the community council.
-
The Community Council is made up of any community members who want to support this work through projects such as: assessing local needs, creating an action plan, planning events, facilitating workshops, executing outreach activities.
Workgroups and Committees will typically be organized around areas that have been identified as priorities.
Current focus areas
The South Salt Lake Cares Coalition is working to help 100% of our students graduate from high school so that our youth can have improved outcomes across their lifespans. We do this by assessing local needs and carrying out action plans to move our work forward. To support this goal we have six committees in the following focus areas:
Physical Health
Mental Health
Gangs & Substance Misuse Prevention
Social Impact
Early Learning
Afterschool
