Providing free homework help, enrichment activities, and clubs, including: prevention, art, dance, STEM, recreation, cooking, service learning, music, chess, photography, robotics, college and career prep, and more for youth in grades K-12!

What we do

Our afterschool programs run during the school year. Youth in grades (K-12) who attend school in South Salt Lake, including those who are home-schooled, may be eligible to attend school-based programs. Programs at community schools can only serve youth who attend school at the given site or home-schooled youth who live within the boundaries of the school. Programs at community centers can serve all youth and their families who live, learn, work, play, and pray in South Salt Lake.

This was our first program named after Hser Ner Moo, a young refugee girl in our community, to honor her for inspiring our work to provide safe and accessible programs and services for youth and their families.

Pathways Program: 16-19 year olds

This space is filled with state-of-the-art technology that teens can use as tools to complete passion projects, such as making music, creating multimedia art, designing 3D objects, and much more. This is a safe space for teens to be themselves through collaboration and creativity.

This program was Promise’s 2nd center, opening in 2008. From the beginning, we've created a community where youth can feel safe, can learn and can grow through mentorship and building life skills.

Space is limited! A number of different factors including family need, youth academic referrals, previous program attendance, and more is considered for enrollment. Our goal is to ensure that our programs are operating at full capacity whenever possible. While filling out an application early is extremely helpful, it does not guarantee a spot. Our staff will keep a waitlist and regularly check on attendance of currently enrolled youths. They will contact families from the waitlist to fill any openings that may become available.
- A complete application which requires a Student ID number (this can be found on your child’s report card). Student ID is not required for youth who are homeschooled.
- Attend a mandatory orientation. Youth cannot begin attending an afterschool program until their parent or guardian has attended a mandatory orientation or a makeup meeting with someone from our team.
Funding stipulations require PSSL to participate in ongoing evaluations, which includes sharing data including name, and program participation with evaluators. Evaluators use these data only for the purposes of fulfilling grant duties and do not share these data with any other third parties without your written consent.
