Season of Sharing
Help Spread holiday cheer for families in need!
Season of Sharing is a beloved South Salt Lake community tradition! It is a time to come together and support families with the highest needs through the holiday season. We work with our local schools, afterschool programs, and City staff to get referrals of families in need. Together over the years we have provided much needed basic needs and holiday wish list items for local kids and families.
This is a great opportunity to get in the holiday spirit and get your family, friends, neighbors, clubs, church, business, and any others to come together to provide a special and memorable holiday season both for yourselves and our neighbors. There are several ways to get involved.
We request donations for 2026 be made by Friday, December 11th.
Get involved
-
Make a tax-deductible donation of any amount by Monday, December 14th and let us do the shopping.
-
Do the shopping yourself. Buy any toy or gift items to help us stock Santa’s Workshop. Return the new and unwrapped items to SSL City Hall by the deadline.
-
Visit our Sharing Tree in SSL City Hall from mid-November to early December to get a tag (or more) with the wish list of one individual and return the wrapped or unwrapped items to SSL City Hall by the deadline.
-
Request a wish list for a full family by contacting us and return the wrapped or unwrapped items to SSL City Hall by the deadline. Please note your preferred household size or any special requests.
-
Host a donation bin at your business and help us collect donations from the community from mid-November to mid-December. Return the collected items to SSL City Hall by the deadline.
-
If you are hosting a holiday party or other event during the holiday season, consider asking your guests to bring a toy or gift to contribute. Return the collected items to SSL City Hall by the deadline.
-
Do you have extra gift wrapping supplies from the previous year? Are you changing your gift wrapping theme? If so, bring us your extra gift wrapping supplies so we can wrap the gifts families will get from Santa’s Workshop.
-
In December, help us set up and organize the space, greet families and guide them through picking their gifts, wrap gifts, clean up, and more.
